What the App Does

Yahrzeit Reminder is an iOS app focused on Jewish remembrance, helping you track Yahrzeit and Yizkor dates using the Hebrew calendar. The app can calculate sunset-based candle-lighting times, schedule on-device reminders, and optionally export events to your calendar (with permission).

Information You Provide

The app may store the following information only on your device (local storage):

• Loved ones’ information you enter (such as names and dates).
• Optional photos you choose to add for your own reference.
• Reminder preferences (for local notifications).

Storage note: The app uses on-device storage (SwiftData). There are no user accounts.

Location Usage (Sunset Calculations)

If you grant location permission, the app uses your device’s location only to compute local sunset-based times (for example, candle-lighting related reminders). The app does not use location for advertising and does not store or transmit your location to a server.

Notifications

The app can schedule local notifications on your device based on the reminder preferences you choose. Notification permissions are optional, and you can change them anytime in iOS Settings.

Calendar Access

If you choose to export events, the app will request permission to access your calendar. Calendar access is used only to create events you request; the app does not read or upload your calendar data to a server.

In-App Purchases

The app may offer a premium unlock via in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple. The app does not receive your full payment details (such as your credit card number).

Data Sharing

The app does not sell your personal information and does not share your personal data with third parties, except as needed to provide features you explicitly use (for example, Apple services for in-app purchases, iOS notification delivery, or calendar permissions).

If your use of Apple services generates data handled by Apple, that data is governed by Apple’s policies.

Security

We aim to use reasonable safeguards appropriate for an on-device app. However, no method of storage is 100% secure. Protect your device (e.g., device passcode/Face ID) and keep iOS up to date.

Children’s Privacy

The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not use accounts or server-side storage, any information entered remains on the device.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the Effective Date above. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
